Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of experience with the patient population Description: Department requires a Registered Nurse for a stepdown unit. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. The unit provides care for patients requiring intermediate care and those downgraded from critical care. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac and vascular related conditions. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips. Common titratable medications include amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, and cardizem. Charge nurses are present on each shift, and may not take an assignment. Patient care techs are available on the unit with a 1:18 ratio. Clientist and intensivist are in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available in the unit 24/7. Registered Nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry strips. Remote telemetry technicians are available, as well as hardwired monitoring capabilities. Shifts are scheduled from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Floating to same level and lower levels of acuity is required. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. RTO requests must be made upfront, with limited additional time off approved. The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts as per the cancellation policy. Charting is completed using an electronic health record system. BSN is not required for this position. Candidates must hold the necessary licenses and certifications to work in this role. This is an acute care setting.
