Special Education Teacher Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher Consultant to provide appropriate educational experiences that meet the individual needs of students with disabilities. The Teacher Consultant will also be responsible for case managing students' academic programming and related services as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with general education and special education teachers to support student learning.
• Case manage students' academic programming and related services outlined in IEPs.
• Plan and provide specially designed instruction for students with disabilities.
• Conduct and participate in special education assessments, including administration and scoring.
• Perform individual evaluations, including achievement testing and student observations.
• Prepare for and participate in IEP/IFSP meetings and processes.
• Maintain accurate and timely student records and written reports.
• Ensure compliance with special education rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Michigan Standards and Benchmarks and electronic IEP documentation.
• Comply with Medicaid billing procedures.
• Participate in meetings, committees, professional development, and other required school activities.
• Demonstrate initiative, persistence, problem-solving, and a commitment to improving outcomes for at-risk students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Special Education certification/endorsement required.
• Minimum 3 years of documented experience teaching special education .
• K-12 Special Education Teacher certification with one of the following endorsements: AI, CI, SA, SV, EI.
• Strong understanding of special education procedures, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• Strong documentation and report-writing abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
• Familiarity with Google and/or Microsoft applications.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to apply verbal de-escalation techniques when necessary.
